Mr. O'Malley graduated with high honors from the University of Kentucky and received his law degree from Duke University, where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Duke Law Journal. He has lectured at ABA and Florida Bar seminars on such topics as:

He is the past-President of The Florida Bar Foundation, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the Executive Committee of the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Real Property Probate and Trust Section and recipient of its 2008 Lifetime Professionalism Award, has chaired the land trust committee of The Florida Bar and is currently chair of the American Bar Association Land Trust Committee He was elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and has been selected for inclusion in both Florida Super Lawyers magazine and Florida Trend magazine's "Legal Elite".
